Frequently Asked Questions
Will you help me find a job after graduation?
Yes, we offer placement assistance to help you take your next step after graduation. You can meet lots of professionals in the industry during your time here, giving you a chance to network and explore where you might want to work. While we can’t guarantee a job, we can give you tools and connections to help you get there.
Can I request a custom class schedule?
Our programs are carefully structured to make the most of your time with us, so we’re not able to offer custom schedules. Missing even a few classes can impact your training and long-term success, so we encourage full commitment to your selected schedule.
If I start part-time, can I switch to full-time later?
Definitely. While we recommend full-time for most students, we understand that life happens. If you start part-time and later want to switch to full-time, we’ll help make that transition when the timing is right for you.
Can I transfer from another school?
Yes, we welcome transfer students. As long as you’re in good standing, have no outstanding financial obligations to your previous school, and we have space available, we’d love to work with you.
What if I need to take time off during the program?
We get that life isn’t always predictable. While we encourage daily attendance (since each class builds on the last), there are some allowable absences built into the calendar. Good attendance is key to making the most of your experience.
What if I graduate in one state and move to another?
Every state has different licensing requirements. If you plan to move, let us know and we’ll help you research what’s needed so you’re ready to work wherever you go.
Do you close for holidays?
Yes, we observe major holidays. You can check our student catalog for the specific dates we’ll be closed.
Do you offer night classes?
Depending on the location, there are full-time or half-time schedules. While the majority of our schedules require classes during the day, you can choose from different schedule options to balance other obligations.
Do you teach cutting and coloring systems?
Yes, we teach a clear system and communication style that helps you understand the “why” behind what you’re doing. This way, you won’t just know how to do something you can understand it and feel confident applying it after graduation.
Do you have a nails-only program?
No, we don’t offer a nails-only program. Nails are part of our full cosmetology curriculum, so you can get to learn them along with other essential beauty skills.
When will I start working with real clients?
You can start taking clients around week eight of the program after you’ve learned the fundamentals. Before that, you can get hands-on experience by working with friends or family members as models.
Can I work on my family while I’m still learning?
Yes! In the early weeks of your training, you can bring in family members on Saturdays as models. Once you’re on the salon floor, they can book appointments just like regular clients.
Is the esthetics program only available in Texas?
Right now, yes — our esthetics program is exclusively offered at our Texas location. We are expanding, though, so feel free to contact us for the latest updates.
What’s the difference between cosmetology and esthetics?
Cosmetology covers a broad range of beauty services — including hair, nails, skincare, and makeup. Esthetics focuses specifically on skincare and facial treatments. Both are important parts of the beauty industry and which one you choose depends on what you’re most passionate about.
What are the licensing requirements for estheticians in Texas?
To become a licensed esthetician in Texas, you must:
- Complete an approved esthetics program
- Pass the state licensing exam
- Be at least 17 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Pass a criminal background check
Once licensed through the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), you’re legally allowed to offer skincare and esthetic services in Texas.
